Springfield teen killed in head-on collision on 160, Springfield man seriously injured

A Springfield teen was killed in a two-vehicle accident 7:53 p.m. Monday on U. S. 160 at North Farm Road 123, one mile west of Springfield.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1997 Nissan Maxima driven by McKenzie M. Rauch, 16, Springfield, crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Richard L. Jean, 53, Springfield head on.


The Jean vehicle became airborne and overturned, traveling off the highway and catching fire. Jean was ejected.

Rauch was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, at 9:06 p.m.

Jean was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital.

The fatality was the 89th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
