Springfield man charged with felony DWI in connection with May crash that killed motorcyclist

Toby Emery was charged by the Greene County Prosecutors Office with Class E Felony DWI, in connection with a May 6 crash in which a Blue Eye motorcycle driver was killed.

The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to an injury crash in the 3400 block of South Campbell at 11:48 p.m. on May 6. 

A 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Toby S. Emery, 51, of Springfield, was entering Campbell Avenue from a private parking lot when it was struck by a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Christopher D. Oswald, 31, of Blue Eye, Mo., which was traveling southbound on Campbell Avenue. 

Emery was not injured. Oswald was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Oswald’s next of kin was notified. The investigation is ongoing, and alcohol was a possible contributing factor.
