A Purdy woman was killed and a Merriam Woods man seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash 5 p.m. today on MO 413, four miles south of Crane.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Brandi L. Werneburg, 33, Purdy, crossed the center line and struck a 2018 Ford Econoline van driven by Linwood R. Chase, 45, Merriam Woods head on.
Werneburg and Chase were airlifted to Cox South Hospital, Springfield where Werneburg was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m. Chase was treated for serious injuries.
The fatality was the 12th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
