At 6:46 p.m. on October 10, 2018, Springfield police were dispatched to 1617 N. Benton Apt. #B at after a 911 caller asked the police to check the well-being of the female resident at that location.
When officers arrived, they found the female deceased inside the apartment with apparent stab wounds.
The victim was identified as Toni M. Brooks, a 39-year-old female from Springfield. Next of kin notifications have been made for the victim.

A suspect has not been identified at this time. Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
