Earth Day celebration to be held at Roaring River State Park

(From the Missouri Department of Conservation)

Roaring River State Park invites the public to an Earth Day Celebration 9 a.m. Saturday, April 21 at the park’s Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center.

A special element of this year’s Earth Day celebration will be two programs about birds of prey given by Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium. Staff from the museum will have a variety of live raptors on hand during the event.

The celebration will also include a bird identification hike along the park’s River Trail and the Chinquapin Nature Center will host an interpretive program on birds’ nest activity and a bird feeder craft at noon and 3 p.m. respectively. Missouri Department of Conservation staff will hand out free trees at the nature center all day, and representatives from other agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Geological Survey, will also provide information and free activities.

This is a free event open to the public. For more information, contact the park’s Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center at 417-847-3742. Roaring River State Park is located seven miles south of Cassville on Highway 112 in Barry County.
