A Wheaton woman was killed in a head-on collision 7:24 p.m. Tuesday on Route W, three miles west of Butterfield.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Debra L. Heffington, 61, Wheaton, crossed the center line and struck a 2016 Ford Escape driven by Jacqueline M. Wasson, 60, Purdy, head on.
Heffington was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Jim Fohn.
Wasson was treated for moderate injuries at Cox Hospital, Monett.
The fatality was the 21st this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
