Retired Springfield Police Officer Aaron Pearson and the Springfield Police Department encourage the community to donate blood this Friday.
The drive, held in conjunction with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, will be held Friday, March 16 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Thomson Donor Center, 220 W. Plainview Rd., and from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Busch Municipal Building.
Officer Pearson was shot in the line of duty in January 2015, and he required 20 units of blood during surgery that followed injuries that nearly took his life.
Blood donors now have a special place in the hearts of Officer Pearson and his wife, Amanda.
“They didn’t have to give blood, but they did anyway,” said Amanda Pearson. “You helped save my husband – something I will be forever grateful for.”
