A Springfield man was killed and his wife injured in a motorcycle-deer collision 12:02 a.m. on Farm Road 141 three miles north of Springfield.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by James J. Brackney, 53, Springfield, struck a deer in the roadway. Both he and his passenger, Brandi A. Brackney, 46, Springfield, were ejected.
Dr. Brian Draper pronounced James Brackeny dead at Mercy Springfield at 1:07 a.m.
Brandi Brackney was treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
The fatality was the 40th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
