Two men shot to death, two others wounded in Springfield shooting spree

At 12:05 a.m. on November 1, 2018, Springfield Police were dispatched to 906 E. Locust after a 911 caller stated gunshots were heard at the residence.

When officers arrived, they found two males deceased inside the home with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers also found two other males with serious gunshot wounds at the location. Officers immediately began life-saving measures for the two wounded individuals and they were transported to the hospital by paramedics. Investigators are currently working the case as a homicide.



The first deceased victim was identified as Aaron J. Hampton, a 23 year-old-male from Springfield. The second deceased victim was identified as Steven R. Marler, a 38-year-old male from Fordland. 

Next-of-kin notifications have been made for the victims. The two wounded subjects are currently being treated in the hospital and are in stable but critical condition.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-8477.
