Springfield woman arrested for murder at 811 S. New

At approximately 11:57 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, Springfield police officers responded to 811 S. New, after a 911 caller stated a male subject was injured at the location. After responding to the location, officers located a deceased male victim inside the home that had observable injuries to his head. Officers identified and located the suspect still at the scene, who was also injured. These injuries were serious but did not appear to be life threatening. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where she is in stable condition.

The victim was identified as Micheal C. Butts, a 44-year-old male from Springfield. Next of kin notifications have been made for the victim. The suspect was identified as Jeanette L. Riddle, a 46-year-old female from Springfield. Riddle has been charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action. Her bond is set at $250,000.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident and at this time are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to CrimeStoppers at 417-869-8477.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Greene County Medical Examiner’s Office.
