Fire weather watch issued for Springfield area

.FIRE WEATHER WATCH POSTED FOR FRIDAY...

.WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT ARE IDEAL FOR A RAPID SPREAD OF WILDLAND
FIRES WILL MATERIALIZE OVER EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND THE
MISSOURI OZARKS ON FRIDAY.

THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND A VERY DRY AIRMASS ARE
EXPECTED AS RELATIVE HUMIDITIES FALL BELOW 30 PERCENT IN MOST
AREAS. SOUTHWEST WIND GUSTS WILL APPROACH 30 MPH AT TIMES.

VERY DRY FUELS EXIST DUE TO DROUGHT CONDITIONS DEVELOPING ACROSS
SOUTHERN MISSOURI AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

VERY DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 055, 056, 057, 058, 066,
067, 068, 069, 070, 071, 073, 077, 078, 079, 080, 081, 082, 088,
089, 090, 091, 092, 093, 094, 095, 096, 097, 097, 101, 101, 102,
103, 104, AND 105...

The National Weather Service in SPRINGFIELD has issued a Fire
Weather Watch, which is in effect from Friday morning through
Friday afternoon.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 073, 097, and 101.Fire
  weather zones 055, 056, 057, 058, 066, 067, 068, 069, 070,
  071, 077, 078, 079, 080, 081, 082, 088, 089, 090, 091, 092,
  093, 094, 095, 096, 097, 101, 102, 103, 104, and 105.

* WIND...WIND GUSTS WILL APPROACH 30 MPH AT TIMES...WITH SUSTAINED
  WINDS AROUND 20 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

* HUMIDITY...RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL FALL BELOW 30 PERCENT...AND
  DROPPING AS LOW AS 20 PERCENT IN SOME AREAS.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.
