Springfield Police Academy class to graduate February 17

Graduation ceremonies for the officers of the 68th Springfield Police Academy will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 17, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 2210 W. Republic Road. These 10 graduates have undergone 1,059 hours (26 weeks) of intense law enforcement training. Upon graduation, they will be assigned to an experienced field-training officer (FTO) for approximately 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training.

Once they complete the FTO program, these new officers will be assigned to the Uniform Operations Bureau.

The class consists of one female and nine males. Their combined education and experience includes one associate's degree, six bachelor’s degrees, one master's degree and five prior or current members of military.

The media and public are invited to attend the graduation ceremony.
