(From the Springfield Police Department)On March 5, 2024, at 8:02 a.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a crash at National and Guinevere involving a sporty-utility vehicle and a man on a pedal assist electric bike.
John Teters, 45, from Springfield, was driving a white 2020 Ford EcoSport westbound on Guinevere at National. Jerry Walker, 84, from Springfield, was crossing National east toward Guinevere on a pedal assist electric bike. Teters hit Walker in the intersection. Walker was transported to the hospital.
Walker died on March 11, 2024, from injuries sustained in the crash. Walker’s family has been notified.
The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
This was Springfield’s fourth fatal motor vehicle crash in 2024.
