DNR issues construction, operating permit for Greene County solid waste processing facility

(From the Department of Natural Resources)

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Waste Management Program has issued a permit to City Utilities of Springfield to construct and operate the Calhoun Transfer Station solid waste processing facility in Greene County.

The facility will be used as a private, small-scale solid waste transfer station that will accept non-friable asbestos cement pipe waste from the city’s utilities department. The site will be located at 1321 W. Calhoun St. in Springfield.

The Department of Natural Resources reviews all applications submitted by cities, counties and private owners to ensure solid waste facilities are properly designed and constructed. Other technical factors that protect Missouri’s environment are also examined.

Questions and comments regarding the transfer station or the department's role in regulating solid waste processing facilities may be sent to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Waste Management Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or by phone call to David Drilling, P.E., Chief, Permits Unit, at 800-361-4827 or 573-526-9545.
