Juvenile suspect arrested following stabbing death of Springfield man

On Aug. 21, 2019, at 9:28 p.m. Springfield Police Officers were dispatched to 3211 W. Walnut after a 911 caller reported a disturbance at the home.

When officers arrived, they found what appeared to be blood on the ground close to the address. Officers secured the suspected crime scene and began investigating the incident.

At approximately 9:37 p.m., three individuals arrived in a vehicle at Cox North Hospital, 1423 N. Jefferson. 

One of the individuals had an injury consistent with a stab wound and was treated at Cox North Hospital, but later died. Officers determined that the victim had been involved in the disturbance at 3211 W. Walnut.








The victim was identified as Craig L. Dorser, a 43-year-old male from Springfield, and next-of-kin notifications were made.

A suspect has been identified and arrested. Due to the suspect being a juvenile, their name will not be released.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
