According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Chrysler Minivan driven by Robert A. Hays, 80, Clever, traveled off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
Dr. Jonathan Vashaw pronounced Hays dead at 4:42 p.m. at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
The fatality was the first of 2020 for Highway Patrol Troop D.
