The Salvation Army Emergency Overnight Warming Center will be open tonight, Wednesday, January 04 and Thursday, January 5 due to predicted extreme cold. Local residents in need are encouraged to come to its Warming Center located at 1707 West Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.
“We were fortunate to have had a fairly mild November and December, but winter has arrived and our doors are open,” said Major Mike Mills, Corps Officer. “We are hoping people will take advantage of this program in order to stay safe.”
The Salvation Army’s Warming Center will be open tonight and tomorrow night from 7:00p.m. to 7:30a.m. The Warming Center opens when the National Weather Service predicts the wind chill will reach 14° F or below.
