Organization donates 100 fire alarms to Springfield Fire Department

(From the Springfield Fire Department)

Today, the Springfield Fire Department will accept a donation of 100 smoke alarms from the organization More Wishes and Hugs (M...WAH) for the Department's free smoke alarm program.

The donation celebration will take place at Fire Station #9, 450 W. Walnut Lawn, Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. "We are grateful to organizations such as M...WAH," said Fire Chief David Hall. "Without them there is no way we could provide the community with life-saving services such as our free smoke alarm program."

To receive a free smoke alarm, you must live in the City of Springfield. To receive one, fill out an online request. A crew will contact you to set up a time to install your alarm. The Springfield Fire Department recommends smoke alarms be installed on every level of the home, outside each sleeping area and in every bedroom. This means most homes need at least 4 working smoke alarms installed at all times.

M...WAH is an organization dedicated to doing random acts of kindness within the community. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
