Monett man killed, four injured in two-vehicle collision in Aurora

A Monett man was killed and four people injured in a two-vehicle collision 5:08 p.m. today on U. S. 60 in Aurora.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Hyundai Electra driven by Michael J. Blake, 37, Monett, attempted to make a U-turn and was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by William A. Lawson, 60, Washburn.

Blake was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner Scott Lakin.

A passenger in the Blake vehicle, Dakota M. Blake, 15, Stella, was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin. Another passenger in the Blake vehicle, Cassidy S. Bray, 21, Springfield, was treated for moderate injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

Lawson and a passenger, Barbara A. Lawson, 61, Washburn, were treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Springfield.

The fatality was the second in 2017 for Highway Patrol Troop D.
