Former Greene County deputy dies from respiratory distress after high stress arrest

We extend our condolences & prayers to the family of Chief Randall Gibson & the Kalama Police Department. Chief Gibson was employed at the Greene County Sheriff's Office from 1994 to 2011. During his career at the GCSO, he rose thru the ranks to become Captain of the Patrol Division; after several years, he was later transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division as Captain.

The City of Kalama mourns the loss of Police Chief Randy Gibson who passed away Tuesday evening, January 10th, as a result of complications brought on by a high-stress incident/arrest earlier in the day. During the incident Chief Gibson went into respiratory distress. After the incident was concluded, Chief Gibson drove himself to the hospital where he was treated and released home. The City of Kalama is treating his passing as a Line of Duty Death.

Chief Gibson faithfully served the community for over five years, working daily to improve out city protect the citizens of the community. Chief Gibson's professionalism and integrity serves as an example to each of us who were fortunate enough to be a colleague or co-worker of his. We thank him for his service. Our condolences and best wishes go out the family and loved ones.

Even though we mourn Chief Gibson's passing, police services to the community will not be disrupted.
