On June 26, 2020, at 10:29 p.m., Springfield Police Officers were dispatched to 2457 N. Fremont regarding a shooting. Officers arrived and contacted David R. Jones, an 18-year-old male from Springfield, who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot.
Jones reported that an armed male intruder had entered his residence and shot him in the foot. Jones reported shooting the male with his own firearm.
Officers located a deceased male inside the residence with obvious gunshot wounds. The deceased male was identified as Kenneth L. Clay, a 36-year-old male from Springfield. Next-of-kin notifications have been made for Clay. No arrests have been made at this time.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869- TIPS (8477).
