(From the Springfield Police Department)On Dec. 22, 2023, at 3:48 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian at Kansas Expressway and Grand.
Barbara Baker, 82, from Springfield, was driving northbound in a 2023 Toyota Camry on Kansas Expressway when she hit a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was walking eastbound across the northbound lanes of Kansas Expressway. The pedestrian, 32-year-old Levi Goins, from Springfield, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Dec. 29, Goins died from injuries sustained in the crash. Goins’ family has been notified.
The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
This was Springfield’s 29th fatal motor vehicle crash in 2023.
