Taney County man sentenced to 30 years in prison on child molestation charges

(From the Taney County Prosecuting Attorney's Office)

On Monday, February 3, 2020, Taney County Circuit Court Judge Jeff Merrell sentenced Ryan D. Pulley, d/o/b 8-12-1985, to a total of thirty (30) years in prison on two class B felonies of 2nd degree child molestation, involving a child less than 12 years old. Pulley was sentenced to fifteen (15) years on each count, with the sentences to run consecutively.

Pulley had pleaded guilty in December of last year on these matters, but sentencing was set off until a sentencing assessment report was completed. At the hearing, evidence was offered by both the state and the defendant.

By pleading guilty to the offenses, the defendant admitted that he had committed touching two minors in a manner designed to gratify the sexual desires of the defendant. When interviewed by law enforcement, Pulley admitted to these actions.

At sentencing the defendant requested that he be placed in a 120 day sexual offender program in prison, after which he would potentially be eligible for probation. The Taney County Prosecuting Attorney’s office requested that the defendant be sentenced to the Department of Corrections for a term of years. After considering both arguments, the Court sentenced the defendant to a total of thirty (30) years in prison.

The class B felony of 2nd degree child molestation is punishable by a sentence of not less than five (5) and not more than fifteen (15) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
