On July 2, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., Springfield Police were dispatched to 1007 E. Pacific after a 911 caller stated a vehicle had crashed into another parked vehicle at that location.
When officers arrived, they found a male subject inside the vehicle who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
The victim has been identified as Darrell W. Gott Jr, an 18-year-old male from Springfield. Next of kin notifications have been made for the victim. A suspect has not been identified at this time.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869- TIPS (8477).
