According to the Highway Patrol report, a Matthew A. Henson, 37, Monett, driving a 2007 Yamaha 450 ATV, attempted to outrun a train, was struck by the crossing gate as he went under it, lost control of the vehicle, went off the left side of the roadway, struck the ditch and was ejected.
Henson, who was arrested by the Barry County Sheriff's Office for driving while intoxicated, was treated for serious injuries at Cox Hospital, Monett.
