Charges against Springfield man upgraded to murder after victim of February 21 shooting dies at local hospital

On February 21, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Springfield Police Officers were dispatched to 2050 N. Johnston after a 911 caller said a person had been shot at the location.

The victim, Jamie L. Carroll, a 45-year-old male from Springfield, required immediate surgery upon arrival at the hospital. Carroll had been in critical condition since that time and on March 6, 2019, Carrol succumbed to his injuries, dying at a local hospital. Next-of-kin notifications have been made for the victim.

The suspect was identified as Keeton H. Waring, a 31-year-old male from Springfield. Waring was arrested by Springfield police officers on February 27, 2019.








Since the time of his arrest, Waring has been held in the Greene County Jail for first-degree assault with a $250,000.00 bond. Detectives will be presenting charges of second-degree murder to the Greene County Prosecutor.
