(From the Springfield Police Department)On June 5, 2021, at 5:33 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to the intersection of Orchard Crest and Junction regarding a motor vehicle crash.
A 1995 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by 70-year-old James R. Lane from Springfield, MO, was traveling southbound on Orchard Crest towards Junction.
The Dodge left the east side of the roadway striking several trees and coming to rest in a culvert. Life-saving efforts were attempted on scene and Lane was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. Next of kin has been notified.
Officers are investigating the circumstances involved in the crash. This is the seventh fatal motor vehicle crash in Springfield in 2021.
