A Springfield pedestrian was killed 7:16 p.m. Thursday on westbound I-44 at Mile Marker 143.8 in Laclede County.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Tipton J. McCurley, 58, Eucha, Oklahoma, struck a pedestrian, Cullen T. May, 36, Springfield, who was standing in the roadway.
Laclede County Deputy Coroner Daniel Jones pronounced May dead at the scene at 7:29 p.m.
The fatality was the 27th this year for Highway Patrol Troop I.
