A Springfield man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 2:30 p.m. Friday on MO 76, five miles north of Shell Knob.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle driven by Christopher C. Johnston, 41, Springfield, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingin pronounced Johnston dead at the scene.
The fatality was the 93rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
