Springfield Police working with SPS officials to address threat to unspecified Hillcrest High School

(From Springfield Hillcrest High School)

Any time we are made aware of threats of violence, we take those threats seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

Today, we were notified that law enforcement authorities in several states are investigating a threat that was posted in a chat room which mentioned a school named Hillcrest. However, there is nothing specific in the threat that links it to our high school in Missouri. The same threat is being investigated in other states where there are also schools called Hillcrest.

We are cooperating with the Springfield Police Department, who is looking into the anonymous threat.

I wanted to share this information with you so that you can be aware of the situation. The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority, and we are committed to keeping Hillcrest High School a safe place to learn and work.

You can help us achieve that by letting us know anytime you become aware of potential safety issues or threats so that we may fully investigate. A dedicated hotline, (417) 319-2901, is available for students, staff and parents to anonymously report any safety issue. Additionally, patrons may call the school police office, (417) 523-2911, at any time.

As the investigation progresses, we will update you if there is additional information to share. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Garry Moore
Principal
