The Springfield Police Department responded to a three-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m. on June 14 near the area of James River Expressway and Farm Road 115.
Two eastbound vehicles were involved in a collision resulting in the vehicles losing control. One vehicle crossed the grassy median and was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that crossed the median was identified as Matthew White, 32, of Springfield.
White was transported to Cox South Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The incident is still under investigation, and White’s next of kin has been notified. This marks Springfield's eighth fatal crash of 2018. With the travel season upon us, we ask all drivers to drive with care and arrive alive.
