A Cassville man was killed in a two-vehicle accident 10:15 a.m. today on U. S. 60 in Verona.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox driven by James A. Turner, 59, Cassville, crossed the center line during heavy rain and struck a 2017 Freightliner driven by George L. Belthius, 61, Oldfield, head on.
Turner was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:15 a.m. by Lawrence County Coroner Scott Lakin. The fatality was the 66th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
