Washburn bicyclist killed in collision with tractor-trailer on 37

A Washburn bicyclist was killed in a collision 11:05 a.m. today on MO 37 south of MO 90 in Washburn.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a Schwinn bicycle ridden by James P.  Fogarty, 30, Washburn, failed to yield a 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Steve T. Johnson, Jr., 36, Fayetteville, Arkansas and hit the tractor-trailer.

Fogarty was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:30 a.m. by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen.

The fatality was the 133rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
