Springfield man shot to death by woman in Price Cutter parking lot

On Nov. 18, 2023, at 6:24 p.m., Springfield police officers responded to a disturbance involving a woman with a gun at the Price Cutter at 1260 E. St. Louis. Prior to officers arriving on scene, the woman fired the gun at Nathan Williams, 25, from Springfield, in the parking lot of the business.

Officers found Williams on the ground with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel transported Williams to a local hospital, but he died a short time later. Williams’ family has been notified.








The woman who shot Williams has been questioned by detectives but has not been arrested at this time.

Once the investigation is completed, the case will be presented to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office who will review and decide on filing criminal charges.

This is Springfield’s 18th homicide investigation in 2023.
