A Springfield man was killed in a car-pedestrian accident 6 a.m. today on Chestnut Expressway west of Broadview Place.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2018 Dodge Ram driven by Samuel T. Mouton, 25, Springfield, was traveling westbound when James L. Hamilton, 47, Springfield, entered the roadway and traveled into the car's path.
Dr. Brian Draper at Mercy Springfield pronounced Hamilton dead at 6:55 a.m.
The fatality was the 124th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
