Springfield man killed in car-motorcycle collision

On August 31, 2022 at 3:24 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to the area of Chestnut Expressway and Park Ave., in reference to a two-vehicle crash.

A 2004 black Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Rosemary Thompson, 52, of Springfield, was eastbound on Chestnut Expressway, turning northbound onto Park Ave. 

A green 2013 Kawasaki Ninja driven by Kyle McMillin, 24, of Springfield, was westbound on Chestnut Expressway at a high rate of speed. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

McMillin was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. McMillin’s next of kin has been notified.

 

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this crash.

This was the 16th fatal motor vehicle crash in Springfield in 2022.
