Missouri State graduate named Highway Patrol crime laboratory manager

Mr. Brian Hoey, director of the Crime Laboratory Division, announces the following promotion effective April 8, 2018:

Ms. Susanne R. Fleetwood has been named crime laboratory manager in the Patrol’s Crime Laboratory Division. In this position, she has oversight responsibilities for CODIS, DNA Casework, Firearm/Toolmark, Latent Prints, and Trace Evidence sections of the Crime Laboratory Division. Fleetwood joined the Patrol on January 1, 1997 as a criminalist in the DNA Profiling Section (later renamed the Combined DNA Index System Section) of the Crime Laboratory Division. She was promoted to criminalist supervisor of that section in 2008. In 2002, Fleetwood was designated state CODIS administrator.

Crime Laboratory Manager Fleetwood was born in Jefferson City, MO. She graduated from Blair Oaks High School in 1990. She earned a Bachelor of Science in medical technology from Missouri State University, in Springfield, MO, in 1995. In 2006, the Patrol’s CODIS Section, of which Fleetwood was a member, accepted a Governor’s Award for Quality and Productivity in the area of efficiency. From 2008-2015, she served as a National DNA Index System board member. Fleetwood is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Crime Laboratory Manager Fleetwood and her husband, Andy, have eight children.
