(From the Springfield Police Department)On May 20, 2021, at approximately 3:34 a.m., the Springfield Police Department was dispatched to the area of 1673 E. Chestnut St. due to a 911 caller stating a subject was lying in the roadway.
When officers arrived, they located a male who had suffered a gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The male has been identified as Bobby D. Gooch Jr., an 18-year-old male from Springfield, Missouri. Next of kin notifications have been made to Mr. Gooch’s family. A suspect has not been identified at this time.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
This incident marks the tenth homicide for 2021.
