(From the Springfield Police Department)On November 6, 2020, at 3:27 a.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to the intersection of Chestnut Exp. and US Highway 65 regarding a motor vehicle crash involving a 1993 Yamaha Motorcycle.
The driver, 20-year-old Sean Carter of Republic, MO, lost control of his motorcycle, left the roadway, and was ejected onto the concrete barrier between concrete pillars under the Highway 65 bridge. Medical personnel responded, but Carter succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
Officers with the department’s Uniform Operation Bureau investigated the circumstances involved in the crash. Currently, no witnesses to this accident have been identified.

This is the 20th fatality motor vehicle crash and the 22nd total crash-related death of 2020 for Springfield.
