Springfield mayor declares state of emergency after third COVID-19 positive reported in Greene County

As this being written, Springfield City Council is discussing the announcement that Mayor Ken McClure has declared a state of emergency for the city following the Greene County Health Department's announcement of a third positive COVID-19 case.

The order follows Gov. Mike Parson and the Center for Disease Control guidelines limiting gathering to less than 50.

The order will last 30 days, unless it is extended.

Those who violate the order will be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to 180 days in jail.

Some council members are questioning whether the order goes far enough.

More information will be posted later today.
