(From the Springfield Police Department)On Jan. 5, 2023, at 3:55p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at Kearney Street and General Aviation Avenue.
Harold Carpenter, 84, from Fair Grove, was driving a silver 2011 Ford Taurus westbound on Kearney. Carpenter failed to navigate the interchange onto General Aviation Avenue, went across the grass median and hit a concrete wall.
Carpenter died on scene. Carpenter’s family has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing as to the circumstances involved in the crash.
This was Springfield’s second fatal traffic crash in 2024.
