Springfield Police investigating Rumors Cabaret parking lot assault as homicide

On January 30, 2022, at approximately 1:23 a.m., Springfield Police Officers responded to a 911 call for an assault in the parking lot of Rumors Cabaret at 1750 S. Glenstone Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a male who had suffered life-threatening injuries. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

On February 20, 2022, the victim, identified as Jeffrey K. Brent, 37, from Springfield, Missouri, succumbed to his injuries. Notifications have been made to Brent’s family.






 

During the investigation, the Springfield Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit identified a suspect in this case, but no arrest has been made at this time.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).

This incident marks the third homicide in Springfield for 2022.

Republic man sentenced to 35 years for using 3-year-old to produce child pornography

A Republic, Missouri, man was sentenced in federal court today for using a 3-year-old child to produce child pornography and for possessing additional child pornography.

Vincent Dominy, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool to 35 years in federal prison without parole. The court also sentenced Dominy to 15 years of supervised release following incarceration, and ordered him to pay $5,000 in victim restitution.








On Sept. 23, 2021, Dominy pleaded guilty to one count of the sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of receiving and distributing child pornography.

According to court documents, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Aug. 22, 2020. Dominy transmitted multiple images of child pornography through his Yahoo! email account.

On Aug. 24, 2020, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Dominy’s residence. Dominy admitted to officers that he had received and distributed images of child pornography, some as young as toddlers. Dominy also admitted that he had taken photos of his sexual abuse of a 3-year-old child and sent some of the photos to other individuals via the internet.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher. It was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Springfield Police investigating Cherry Street shooting as homicide

On February 13, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to Cherry Creek Apartments located at 2107 E. Cherry Street following a 911 caller stating a subject had been shot. When officers arrived, they located a male who had suffered a gunshot wound and was laying in the driveway. The male was pronounced deceased on scene.

The deceased male has been identified as Spencer Anderson, 34, from Springfield, Missouri. Next of kin notifications have been made to his family.








A suspect has not been identified at this time.

This incident marks Springfield’s second homicide for 2022.
