According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by Brent M. Sexton, 36, Springfield, ran off the right side of the roadway at a high rate of speed, overturned down an embankment then caught on fire. Sexton was ejected.
Stone County Deputy Coroner Jerry Jenkins pronounced Sexton dead at the scene at 11:35 a.m.
The fatality was the sixth this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
