(From the Springfield Police Department)On December 5, 2020, at 11:30 p.m., Springfield police were dispatched to the intersection of Sunshine and Oxford for a motor vehicle crash involving a 2019 Navistar box truck and a pedestrian.
The initial investigation indicated the box truck was westbound on Sunshine at Oxford, in the outside lane. The pedestrian appeared to be crossing Sunshine southbound. The box truck struck the pedestrian and then continued westbound. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian was identified as 39-year-old Marcie L. Brown, a female from Springfield. Next of kin has been notified.
Officers with the department’s Traffic Section are continuing to investigate the circumstances involved in the crash and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
This is the 24th fatality motor vehicle crash and the 26th total crash-related death of 2020 in Springfield.
