The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to a report of a serious one-motorcycle crash on MO-266, just east of Airport Boulevard, at 9:45 p.m. on July 11.
A 2007 Buell motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on MO-266 and lost control, going off the road and into the embankment.
When officers arrived, they located the motorist and attempted CPR, but he later died at a hospital. The motorist was identified as Thomas J. Davidson, 29, of Springfield. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
