On Feb. 1, 2021, at about 6:13 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department were dispatched to 2808 W. Chestnut St. after a 911 caller said two people had been shot.
Officers arrived and located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the males was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The other male was provided medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
The deceased person was identified as 23-year-old Chandler Sweaney, from Springfield, MO. Next of kin notifications have been made to Mr. Sweaney’s family. A suspect has not been identified at this time.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
