Barton County Sheriff's Department Report

Trailer Stolen
On 08-20-2014  Ronald S. Legrand came to the Sheriffs Office and reported that he had a trailer stolen and knew who stole it.  After obtaining statements from several individuals about the trailer an interview was conducted with the suspect, Jackie D. Ford, age 45, of Lamar.  Reports in this case will be sent to the prosecutor for filling of criminal charges of Stealing.

Arson case being investigated in Golden City two homes destroyed
On 08-18-2014 around 1:00 a.m.the Barton County Sheriffs Office received a complaint of a home being on fire in the 700 block of Mill in Golden City.  Golden City fire department responded along with fire departments from Lockwood, and Lamar.  The fire which destroyed the property was so big at one time it caught a  second home neighboring it on fire also.  At this time the Barton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case to be arson.  The Missouri State Fire Marshall is also assisting in the investigation.

Assault and Trespass case investigated in Southeast Barton County
On 08-15-2014 The Barton County Sheriffs Office received a complaint of individuals trespassing on a property located at 449 SE 80th LN.  The caller advised that a repossession company had came to the property to obtain a vehicle which the owner was in default with.  The reporting person advised that while in the process of trying to obtain the vehicle and assault had occurred.  When deputies arrived on the scene the parties was all split apart in two different locations however the property owner had used his vehicle to block the repossession company from leaving.  Interviews was conducted with all parties involved and at the conclusion of the investigation two summons was issued to Ginny Lavalee, age 36, of El Dorado Springs for the charge of assault, and trespass.

Domestic disturbance reported
On 08-15-2014 the Barton County Dispatcher took a call of a domestic assault which had taken place on Southeast 13th road.  Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area along with the Lamar Police Department.  During the investigation it was learned that a physical altercation took place inside a vehicle between two subjects while traveling down the roadway.  The two subjects was separated and taken to the jail to continue the investigation. The two subjects identified in the disturbance was a Robert B. Davenport, age 34, of Lamar and Brittni D. Voris, age 22, of Lamar.  At the jail summons was issued to the two subjects for domestic assault and both subjects was released.

Arrest for Abuse of Child
On 08-14-2014 the Barton County Sheriffs Office received a complaint of a Child at the Barton County Memorial Hospital which had suspicious injuries.  When deputies from the Sheriff’s Office arrived and observed the injuries an investigation was started.  During the investigation Daniel T. Williams, age 37, of Lamar was brought to the Sheriff’s Office and interviewed on the events which happened.  At the conclusion of the investigation Williams was arrested on the charge of abuse of a Child.  Williams is being held at the Barton County Jail with a bond amount of $10,000 dollar cash or surety.

Legrand Arrested for Driving while Intoxicated
On 08-04-2014 The Barton County Dispatcher received a complaint of a careless driver around the area of 1st Ln around the Wal-Mart area.  A deputy was able to located the vehicle traveling eastbound on 12th street in Lamar.  A traffic Stop was conducted in the area of KK highway and 14th street in Lamar.  During the stop the driver of the vehicle Brenton S. Legrand, age 41, of Lamar was arrested at the conclusion of the investigation on a criminal charge of Driving while Intoxicated.
