Drone technology enables Springfield Police to locate missing juvenile

Technology has so much potential to help keep the community safe! We're very excited about the results of this pilot program.

Earlier in November, officers received a report of a missing juvenile. Officers requested the assistance of AIR1, SPD’s pilot program for a new drone technology, to search nearby parks.

 
After searching nearby parks with no success in locating the missing juvenile, as drone operators were bringing the drone down, they identified what appeared to be the missing juvenile near the intersection of Bennett and Campbell.

 
Officers responded to the area and were able to reunite the juvenile with their family.

Aurora, Exeter residents suffer serious injuries in crash on 76

Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident 3:50 p.m. Friday on MO 76 two miles west of Exeter.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Mazda Tribute driven by Darrin S. Greene, 34, Exeter, attempted to pass another vehicle, swerved back into the lane due to an oncoming vehicle, ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned.

A passenger, Ashley Achemire, 28, Exeter, was airlifted to Mercy Springfield with serious injuries.

Greene and another passenger, Kristopher D. Burwell, 33, Aurora, were treated for serious injuries at Mercy.

Springfield woman killed in crash near Bolivar

A Springfield woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident 1:40 p.m. today on MO 13 three miles south of Bolivar.

According to the Highway Patrol, 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tammy J. Combs, 57, Springfield, traveled off the roadway and overturned, ejecting Combs.

Combs was pronounced dead at 2:48 p.m. at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar.

The fatality was the 123rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
