Karsten first female to head Missouri Highway Patrol
Today, Governor Eric Greitens announced that Lt. Col. Sandra Karsten will be his pick for the Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She will be the first female to take the top post in the state’s history. The announcement was made at the Highway Patrol headquarters, addressing the 104th Class of Recruits. The announcement was streamed via Facebook Live(announcement starts at 19:30).
Governor Greitens reaffirmed his commitment to law enforcement and the Highway Patrol. He told the gathered recruits, “You represent a proud future of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and you stand in a long line and a proud tradition of men and women who have gone before you.”
Governor Greitens praised Lt. Col. Karsten for her exemplary work in law enforcement and her community engagement. “She has a distinguished 30 years of service, during which times she was recognized many times for her work on DWI enforcement and drug interdiction. She has risen from trooper to superintendent, and led, at each step, with courage and commitment.”
Lt. Col. Karsten said, “The Patrol is a great organization and I’ve had a passion for it since I was 17 years old. We have great people who are dedicated to providing service to the citizens we serve… As your colonel, I will listen first and then lead. I will work in such a way that is worthy of your trust and your confidence.”
Springfield Police searching for missing woman

The Springfield Police Department is investigating a report of a missing person and is asking for assistance from the public.
The missing person is identified as Linda K. Busch, a 55-year-old white female. She is approximately 160 pounds, 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Busch wears eyeglasses that are repaired with tape. She was last seen on Jan. 31 at approximately 10 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Hillcrest.

Reeds Spring man arrested on felony charge after hit-and-run death
On Jan. 22, at 10:57 p.m., the Springfield Police Department was dispatched to National Avenue and Cherry Street to investigate an injury accident involving a pedestrian.
Bradley Bizzle, age 45, of Springfield was struck by a northbound vehicle. The involved vehicle left the scene after striking Bizzle. Bizzle was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The next of kin was notified.
On Jan. 23, the suspect vehicle was located and the investigation continued. A suspect was identified and questioned in relation to this case. The suspect, Shawn Bouley, age 40, of Reeds Spring, was arrested Feb. 1 for the felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Bouley has been booked into the Greene County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 864-1810 or Crime Stoppers at 869- 8477.
Charges contained in the felony complaint are merely allegations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
This crash is the second fatality investigated by the Springfield Police Department in 2017.

Victim identified in fatal shooting at 1500 W. Hamilton
Springfield police officers were dispatched to 1500 W. Hamilton at approximately 2:06 a.m. on Feb. 1, after a 911 caller stated a person had been shot at the residence. Upon arriving at the location, officers located a deceased male inside the home that had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
The deceased was identified as Zechariah S. Miles, 19, of Springfield. His next of kin notifications have been made. No arrests have been made at this time.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident and at this time are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-8477.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Greene County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police investigate fatal shooting at Springfield home
A man is dead after a shooting at a home in central Springfield Wednesday morning.
A woman inside the home in the 1500 block of West Hamilton called 911 just after 2 AM. When officers arrived they found the victim inside. His identity hasn't been released.
The investigation is still in preliminary stage and detectives continue to process the scene.

Springfield man injured crashing into house
A Springfield man was injured in a one-vehicle accident 9:23 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 39 in Stockton.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Kenneth W. Gonterman, 62, Springfield, ran off the roadway and struck a house.
Gonterman was treated for moderate injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
