Applications now open for 2019 Springfield Citizens Police Academy

(From the Springfield Police Department)

You can now sign up for the Springfield Police Department's 2019 Citizens Police Academy. Participants complete 30 hours of instruction over 10 weeks, with one class per week.

A variety of topics are covered, including police policies, organizational structure, investigative processes, crime scene processing, drug investigations, tactics and the challenges involved in providing a safe community.

The goal of the academy is to give citizens a better understanding of how the police department functions and what challenges officers face when working to serve the community.

The program is conducted once per year and the deadline to sign up for the 2019 class is June 30.
